Mario Balotelli scored an injury time penalty to give Manchester City a 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League on Sunday. The victory secures top spot in the league table for City for at least another week.
Samir Nasri opened the scoring for the hosts in the 56th after his well-timed run met David Silva’s pass to allow the French international to one-time the ball past Spurs goalie Brad Friedel. Jolean Lescott bundled the ball into the net three minutes later before Tottenham swiftly replied courtesy of Jermaine Defoe’s fine solo effort. A sublime Gareth Bale strike tied the match at 2-2 after 64 minutes and appeared to seal a well-earned draw for the Londoners until Ledley King’s clumsy challenge on Balotelli brought the Italian down in the box after 91 minutes.
