Mario Balotelli’s double put City up 2-0 before Sergio Aguero scored his tenth goal in nine games for the talent-laden club. Edin Dzeko’s brace and a David Silva goal completed the rout of the nineteen time English champions.
Manchester United’s Johnny Evans was red-carded in the 47th for a foul on Balotelli with City up 1-0. Darren Fletcher scored for United in the 81st to make matters 3-1 before City added three unanswered goals.
