The Federación Peruana de Futbol recently signed a kit deal with Umbro that will see the Peru national football team donning the UK-based sportswear firm’s uniforms for Copa America 2011.
Before the new kits were launched, Umbro released an interim Peru kit that was used for the Blanquirroja’s September friendlies with Canada and Jamaica.
Now the Peru Umbro 2011 home and away jerseys have hit the streets. As a result, Peru becomes the first Copa America 2011 participant to release the kit that will be used in South America’s national team championship.
The new kit is inspired by that worn in the 1970s when the Peru national team won the 1975 Copa America, placed second in the 1979 Copa America and made the second round of the 1978 FIFA World Cup. It uses the same Umbro retro-look fabric used for the England 2010/12 away jersey.
