Former Real Madrid captain Raul has signed for German Bundesliga club Schalke 04 after 16 record-breaking seasons with Real Madrid. The striker was presented to the public as a Schalke player earlier today in Gelsenkirchen and has been given shirt number 7 (which he also wore at Real Madrid) by the club.

The 33-year-old Raul scored 323 goals in 741 games for Real Madrid. This included a record 66 UEFA Champions League goals.  Raul is also  Spain’s all-time leading goalscorer. He follows former Real Madrid sriker partner Ruud van Nistelrooy to the Bundesliga. The latter left Real in January to sign with Hamburg SV.
