The United States men’s soccer team ended European champions Spain’s record 15-game winning streak 2-0 victory today to advance to the final of the FIFA Confederations Cup.
Spain-based striker Jozy Altidore scored the opening goal in the 27th minute while Fulham’s Clint Dempsey capitalized on a mistake by Sergio Ramos to notch the second with 16 minutes left.
This was Spain’s first defeat in 35 internationals with their last loss occurring November 2006.
The U.S. now meet the winners of Thursday’s game between hosts South Africa and Brazil in the final on Sunday.
