Felipe Melo scored off Maicon’s free kick in the seventh minute while Robinho notched a second in the 20th as part of a counterattack that began when U.S. midfielder DaMarcus Beasley failed to come up with a short corner kick. Maicon scored Brazil’s third goal in the 62nd.
The USA’s Sacha Kljestan was ejected by in the 57th minute for a foul on Ramires.
