The South African Football Association (SAFA) and adidas have unveiled the South Africa FIFA World Cup 2026 home kit, introducing a refined look that bridges heritage and modern performance design. Created for both Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana, the jersey will feature throughout the 2026–2027 international football season, marking a fresh chapter for the national teams.

The new jersey draws direct inspiration from the memorable South Africa Word Cup 2010 design — a shirt that became a lasting emblem of South African pride during one of the country’s most defining football moments. Retaining the signature yellow base and green detailing, the updated edition pays homage to tradition while enhancing technical fabrication and fit for today’s demanding game. The clean silhouette emphasizes comfort, breathability, and performance precision across competitive levels.

Beyond aesthetics, the 2026/2027 adidas jersey celebrates South Africa’s linguistic and cultural diversity. Subtle woven graphics throughout the fabric represent the nation’s 12 official languages, echoing unity and shared national identity.

Tom Brown, Senior Marketing Director for adidas South Africa, highlighted the evolution of this theme: “The iconic adidas SAFA jersey of the 2010 World Cup had a distinctive reference to the diverse national languages of South Africa, represented by 11 small lines in the collar. This design is re-imaged for a proud new era, with a design patter which proudly reflects the now 12 national languages on the national jersey.”

This cultural nod connects the South Africa World Cup 2026 home kit with supporters across generations, reaffirming the deep connection between sport and identity. The design’s intricate language pattern symbolizes inclusion and collective pride, reflecting the many voices united by football. Each visual element reinforces continuity with past eras while adapting the design for a new generation of players and fans.

Banyana Banyana will officially debut the 2026/2027 home kit on March 17 in Morocco as they face Tanzania in the opening match of the WAFCON 2026 tournament.
