The German Football Association (Deutscher Fußball-Bund) has partnered with adidas to release a special limited-edition kit commemorating the 125th anniversary of the organization’s founding. The commemorative shirt draws inspiration from Germany’s iconic 1974 World Cup-winning home kit, featuring the classic black and white color scheme that has become synonymous with German football heritage. This nostalgic design aims to evoke powerful emotions associated with significant moments in the team’s storied history.
The Germany 125th anniversary adidas jersey incorporates several distinctive design elements, including pinstripe fabric, traditional crew neck collar with cuffs, and the German flag printed on the neck area. What makes this latest German shirt particularly notable is the specially embroidered crest marking the DFB’s 125th anniversary, which pays homage to the commemorative plaque located at the association’s founding site in Leipzig.
Rather than featuring adidas’ modern logo, the jersey showcases the brand’s vintage Trefoil emblem, further emphasizing the kit’s retro aesthetic. For goalkeepers, a light blue variation has been developed.
The Germany Men’s National Team will debut the special kit on March 20th in Milan during the first leg of their UEFA Nations League quarter-final match against Italy. Following this inaugural appearance, the Women’s National Team will first wear the anniversary jersey during their April fixtures, ensuring both national squads participate in honoring the federation’s 125-year legacy.
To complement the Germany 125th Anniversary kit’s release, adidas has produced a promotional short film titled “The Fabric of Legends.” The video features prominent figures from throughout the DFB’s history, including current stars Jule Brand, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, and Florian Wirtz, alongside German football legends like Nia Künzer and Rudi Völler. This multimedia approach helps contextualize the anniversary kit within Germany’s rich football tradition.
