The Argentine Football Association (AFA) and adidas have unveiled a commemorative edition jersey celebrating their 50-year partnership, drawing inspiration from the iconic Argentina 1974 World Cup kit. The special release features the traditional Albiceleste vertical stripes in a design that pays homage to the first-ever adidas-manufactured Argentina national team jersey.
This Argentina x adidas 50th Anniversary heritage-inspired piece showcases several distinctive elements that set it apart from regular match kits. The shirt prominently displays a specially designed AFA crest adorned with laurel wreaths, representing the national team’s achievements, including their three FIFA World Cup victories.
Perhaps most notably, the shirt features the adidas Originals trefoil logo rather than the modern performance emblem, marking a rare appearance of the classic insignia on an official match jersey.
The complete kit ensemble includes black shorts and socks, complemented by gold accents through the AFA and adidas branding. The jersey’s construction utilizes AERO READY technology for moisture management and is manufactured entirely from recycled materials with TPU applications, maintaining modern performance standards while embracing classic aesthetics. The collection also includes a green goalkeeper variant, acknowledging the iconic color worn by Argentina’s legendary shot-stoppers over the past five decades.
The Asociación del Fútbol Argentino x adidas 50th Anniversary commemorative uniform will make its debut in Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Peru on November 19, though the team will return to their standard home kit for subsequent matches throughout 2025. This limited appearance adds to the jersey’s significance as a collector’s piece, bridging past and present in Argentine football history.
The jersey was launched using the theme “50 Años – En el Alma y en la Piel” (50 Years – In the Soul and in the Skin).
