SSC Napoli has revealed its 2024/25 third kit, designed by technical partner EA7, which will be worn during their Serie A and Coppa Italia campaigns. The jersey represents a unique cultural bridge between Naples and Japan, drawing inspiration from the historic 1960 twinning of Naples with the Japanese city of Kagoshima.
The design celebrates the remarkable similarities between these distant port cities, each dominated by iconic volcanoes – Mount Vesuvius in Naples and Sakurajima in Kagoshima. This connection is permanently honored in both cities’ street names, with “Napoli-dori” in Kagoshima and “Via Kagoshima” in Naples serving as lasting symbols of their enduring friendship.
The SSC Napoli 2024/25 EA7 third kit’s aesthetic incorporates traditional Japanese samurai elements, featuring detailed representations of the kabuto helmet, menpo mask, and katana sword. These warrior symbols are integrated into a wave pattern inspired by classical Japanese artistic traditions, creating a distinctive visual identity that sets it apart from conventional football attire.
Neapolitan influence is evident in the shirt’s baroque-styled collar detailing, seamlessly blending Naples’ rich architectural heritage with Japanese design elements. The jersey’s right side displays the seven Bushido virtues – Righteousness, Respect, Courage, Honor, Compassion, Honesty, and Loyalty – principles that resonate with both samurai tradition and modern sporting values.
The 2024/25 third kit represents the latest chapter in SSC Napoli’s “From Napoli to the World” initiative, which explores cultural connections between Naples and global communities. The design acknowledges the growing Japanese fanbase of SSC Napoli, whose support has strengthened the bonds between these twinned cities.
