Arsenal Football Club and adidas have unveiled the resurgent Premier League club’s third kit for the 2023/24 season, inspired by a vintage design from the 1980s.
The kit features a mineral green body with collegiate navy shoulders and off-white details on the crest and sponsor logos. The result is a modern reinterpretation of a classic look that is intended to appeal to fans in the stadium and at home and the players on the field.
As Arsenal’s men’s and women’s teams aim for glory in the UEFA Champions League this season, the Gunners’ 2023/24 adidas third jersey was launched with a film that showcases European flair in the neighborhood of Islington. Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Leah Williamson are some of the stars who appear in the film that visits some familiar spots near Emirates Stadium.
Inigo Turner, Design Director for Football Apparel at adidas said: “Given the depth of Arsenal’s kit archive, looking to the past is always an inspiring place to start when designing something for the supporters of today. The iconic green away shirt from the 1982/83 season was a one-off and this modern-day expression of this classic blends fashion and football seamlessly.
“As these worlds continue to collide, we’ve looked to create a kit that is, first and foremost, primed for performance offering the best for the athlete, while also being an eye-catching fashion statement that supporters are proud to wear at matches and away from the stadium.”
Both the men’s and women’s teams will sport the new kit in various competitions, including the Premier League, Women’s Super League, domestic cups, and the UEFA Champions League. The first time fans will see the new kit on the pitch will be on October 22nd, when Arsenal Women face Bristol City away in the Women’s Super League. The men’s team could also debut the new kit in September, depending on the UEFA Champions League draw.
