The Danish Football Union (Dansk Boldspil-Union) and technical partner hummel have released a three match kit collection that Denmark will wear at FIFA World Cup 2022 and for the 2022/23 international season.
The red home, white away, and black monochromatic shirts are inspired by the iconic jersey worn by the Danes when they emerged as the surprise champions of EURO 1992. They celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the title while paying tribute to today’s Denmark national teams.
According to the DBU the Denmark World Cup 2022 kits should not only be seen as a tribute to the ’92 team but rather as a symbol of a new era in Danish national team football.
“Although the shirt is a remake of the 92 shirt and marks the 30th anniversary of the EURO triumph, we don’t just want a nostalgic tribute to the old legends. We are going to the World Cup with one of the strongest national teams in recent times, and therefore the jersey is also a symbol that it is now that we must create the legends of the future. In 20-30 years, it will hopefully be the current national team players that we remember with the same legendary status as we do with the ’92 team today”, said hummel CEO, Allan Vad Nielsen.
“We are incredibly proud of our current national team and their achievements both on and off the pitch. They have proven that we should not be afraid to dream big. Therefore, we also believe that we can help write new history in Danish football – and together with the men’s national team, we dream of a World Cup trophy in December, which will make the jersey the object of a new generation of national team legends,” he added.
The Denmark 2022/23 away kit will be worn for the first time for Thursday’s UEFA Nations League match against Croatia. The home jersey will make its debut when the Danes meet France on September 25.
Denmark is pooled with Australia, France, and Tunisia at FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar.
