SC Internacional ‘Excelência Negra’ adidas Kit

SC Internacional debuted its version of the adidas ‘Excelência Negra’ (Black Excellence) kit during Wednesday evening’s Campeonato Brasileiro Série A match against Cuiabá.

Like a similar offering for CR Flamengo the jersey is inspired by the “Black Excellence” manifesto created by Marcelo Carvalho (one of the leaders of the Observatório Racial project). It honors the countless achievements of Black men and black women in Brazilian football.

The new kit is predominantly black with details from the Excelência Negra manifesto included within its numbers in golden text.

SC Inter and adidas say that phrases such as “o negro no futebol brasileiro é a marca do Brasil” (the Black man in Brazilian football is the brand of Brazil) and “jogadores negros ganharam o mundo ” (Black players won the world) amongst others tell of the achievements, the perseverance and courage of those who never let themselves be silenced.

A golden Afro hairstyle with the phrase “É a Coroa” stamped throughout it is placed at the center chest. The phrase is inspired by the iconic saying of Brazilian singer and racial justice icon Babu Santana.
