The Bulgaria Football Union has launched the home and away kits that its men’s and women’s national teams will wear during the 2020/21 international soccer season.
Provided by BFU technical partner Joma, the Bulgaria 20/21 jerseys take their design inspirations from shirts worn during a pair of the more successful periods in the country’s footballing history.
The mainly white home shirt has a retro look based on the kit worn by Bulgaria when they defeated Belgium in a 1966 World Cup qualifying playoff in Florence, Italy. The look was also used when Bulgaria won the silver medal in the 1968 Olympics.
Bulgaria’s predominantly red 2020/21 away jersey is a modern interpretation of the kit that the team wore in the mid-1980s including the 1986 World Cup. Bulgaria made it out of the group stage for the first time in that tournament.
The Bulgaria men’s senior national football team debuted their 2020/21 Joma home kit during their 1-1 UEFA Nations League draw with the Republic of Ireland last week.
