Parma Calcio 1913 and UC Sampdoria will celebrate their history of friendship by wearing kits inspired by each other’s home kit when they meet in Italian Serie A action on May 5th, 2019.
The Parma Calcio 1913 site explains the move and its charity benefits:
The two clubs have decided to mark this historic link between the fans by creating special mash-up kits thanks to collaboration from the technical sponsors Erreà and Joma.
On 5 May, when the teams meet at the Stadio Tardini on matchday 36 in Serie A, Parma will wear a Gialloblù version of the Sampdoria kit while the Blucerchiati will wear a special version of their kit featuring the Crociati’s cross.
Blucrociati – Not Just Colours is the name of this initiative celebrating two of the most iconic Italian kits while preserving the clubs’ own identities and historic colours in embracing the respect that each fanbase has for the other.
The Blucerchiato version which will be worn by the Parma team and made by Erreà will be yellow and blue in colour. The kit itself features many small details. For example, the classic Cross of St George will be replaced by the emblem of the Duchy of Parma. On the back, there will be a triangle with the club’s badge along with celebratory text to commemorate the fixture saying: “Parma Calcio vs Sampdoria, 5 maggio 2019.”
The Crociati-style shirt that Sampdoria will wear made by Joma will feature the cross in the four colours that distinguish their home kit. Under the badge, their kit will also have a celebratory text dedicated to the fixture.
The kits worn in the match will then be put up for auction. The funds raised by Parma will be donated to the Istituto Gaslini in Genoa while those raised by Sampdoria will be donated to the Ospedale dei Bambini in Parma.
