Bayer Leverkusen “40 Years in the Bundesliga” Kit

Published on

Popular Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen has released a limited edition jersey to commemorate their fortieth consecutive season in the top division of soccer in Germany.

The shirt is a modern interpretation of the Bayer Leverkusen 1978/79 home kit worn by The Werkself as their earned promotion from the 2. Bundesliga.

Furnished by Bayer Leverkusen technical partner Jako, the new jersey is red with white details. It has a classic football shirt polo collar like those of many kits of the 1970s.

The Bayer AG trademark appears in the shirt sponsor area with “LEVERKUSEN” below it to emulate the classic football kit. Main sponsor Barmenia Versicherungen and sleeve partner Kieser Training have agreed to not have their logos on the jersey to preserve Bayer’s look of forty years ago.

Each kit is individually numbered from 1 to 4,000 via an inside neckline print. The player names and numbers on the shirts’ back use a 1970s design.

Bayer Leverkusen will wear their Bundesliga 40th Anniversary Jako kit when they host Schalke 04 in league action on May 11th, 2019.
