Club Universidad de Chile adidas Originals Retro Kit

adidas Originals have released a limited edition retro soccer jersey for eighteen-time Primera División champions Club Universidad de Chile.

The latest La U jersey is inspired by the home kit worn by the club during the early 1980s when it featured the likes of Alberto Quintano, Héctor Hoffens, Mariano Puyol and Sandrino Castec amongst others.

In the classic home blue with white accents of Universidad de Chile, the shirt carries a look of the era via a slimfit silhouettem, oversized polo collar and v-shape at its neck. The adidas Trefoil that was the German company logo at the time is embroidered on the right breast the large red U that serves as the club’s crest appears on the right.

Another 1980s touch is sleeve and shoulder taping featuring adidas’ three stripes. The effect was common in some of the company’s football shirts of 30 to 40 years ago.
