Noewly crowned Dutch Eredivisie champions PSV have introduced their away kit for their season 2018/19 domestic and UEFA Champions League seasons. The shirt, which was worn for the first time against ADO Den Haag on Sunday, is inspired by the shirt that PSV donned when they won the UEFA European Cup in 1988.
PSV’s fans emphatically chose not to fully replicate the club’s 1987/88 away jersey but to instead use a modern interpretation of it. The kit is white with blue details like the 1988 shirt. A graphic pattern that runs throughout the 18/19 jersey is based on tonal diagonal lines of the European Cup-winning kit.
A graphic beneath the rear collar include the date and year of PSV’s sole European crown and the city in which it was won, Stuttgart. where PSV settled with Benfica after penalty kicks.
The PSV Eindhoven 2018/19 away kit uses a v-neck bespoke design from Umbro with the brand’s iconic diamonds accenting the sleeve cuffs similar to the Manchester-based brand’s 1980s and 1990s football shirts.
