Five-time Korean K. League champions Pohang Steelers will wear a three match kit collection from Spanish sportswear firm Astore for their 2018 season.
The outfield player shirts were launched along with two goalkeeper jerseys using the theme ‘Back to the Original’.
The Pohang Steelers 2018 Astore home kit is inspired by the Pohang Steelworks Football Club shirts of 1985 to 1992 through its use of red and black horizontal stripes and a red collar.
The font design on the kit also has a 1980s to 1990s look to continue with the classic feel of the jersey. A silhouette of Korea’s first soccer stadium, Steel Yard and Pohang City, appears at the bottom front of the kit.
The Pohang Steelers 2017 away kit is called their ‘Cyan Blue’ uniform. The shirt has a series of tonal horizontal stripes taken from the club’s 1996 alternate jersey.
Pohang Steelers’ 2018 third kit is called ‘The Blast Furnace’ shirt. The design is inspired by the sparks from the hot blast furnaces at the Pohang Works. The ironworks concept is emphasized via a band of the Steelers’ red and black on the chest area of the mainly white jersey.
