Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield today revealed their 2017 third kit from Umbro Argentina.
The new “El Fortín” (The Fort) alternate jersey has a black base. It celebrates the club’s root in the Buenos Aires Italian immigrant community of the early twentieth century with chevrons in the colors of the Italy national flag on its chest.
The bespoke design of the new Vélez third jersey includes black and white Umbro diamond taping on its sleeves. This element is inspired by the kit worn by the club when it won the 1994 Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental Cup.
A logo specially designed by graphic artist Costhanzo is printed on the outside upper back of the shirt. The print is in the shape of the Umbro diamond and includes images of the cups that Vélez won some twenty three years ago between the numbers “1” and “4”. Umbro diamond-shaped laser cut ventilation holes in the colors of the Italian flag appear on the sides of the jersey.
The Vélez Sarsfield 2017 Umbro third kit has a retro-feel v-neck with a polo collar. Taping with the stylized print “Campeón de Todo” (Champion of Everything) is stitched along its inside neckline.
