West Ham United Football Club today unveiled a Commemorative 2016/17 Thames Ironworks Kit from technical partner Umbro. The third kit for the upcoming season from the in-form Barclays Premier League side will be worn for Sunday’s Betway Cup game against Juventus and during The Hammer’s 16/17 FA Cup run.
The the shirt is inspired by the kit worn by West Ham’s forerunners, Thames Ironworks FC. It uses a classic buttoned collar design in navy blue with Union Jack detailing. Like the Thames Ironworks’ kit from 1896/97 until they became West Ham United in 1900, the jersey features a Union Jack badge with the initials TIWFC. The appearance flag echoed the patriotism of club founder Arnold Hill.
Inside neck taping and the crossed hammers of WHUFC on the signoff area of the jersey are in the West Ham’s now internationally known primary color of claret.
