Southampton Football club have become the second Barclays Premier League Club to wear kits from USA-based sportswear firm Under Armour.
The Saints recently inked a seven-year deal with UA following a tumultuous three-year run with adidas. They are the second Premier League side to wear Under Armour kits and join the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, São Paulo FC and the New York Cosmos in the company’s growing stable of sponsored professional soccer clubs.
The Southampton 2016/17 Under Armour home kit prominently features the team’s red and white stripes on its front and back. The stripes appear in blocks of five to recognize Southampton’s five core brand values. The same effect is used on the striping on the side of accompanying black shorts and on the inside neck taping of the shirt. The club’s slogan of “WE MARCH ON” also appears on the inside neck taping. A block of white appears above the stripes in the chest area of the kit. Black details the rear collar and sleeves of the jersey.
Southampton’s 16/17 away shirt uses the same Under Armour design as the home kit. Its main color is black with gray and red used for detailing. The jersey is matched with gray shorts and mainly black socks for an alternate look to The Saints primary uniform.
