AS Roma 2015/16 Nike Third Kit

AS Roma will take to the field for some of its most crucial 201516 away matches in a light grey kit with black detailing from Nike. The dominant color evokes the grey coat of La Lupa, the she-wolf: a revered symbol of the club and the Italian capital.

This city emblem features in AS Roma’s famed crest, which depicts the wolf feeding the twin brothers Romulus and Remus. In Roman mythology, Romulus founded Rome in 753 BC after both brothers had been sheltered by the she-wolf in their hour of need. The twin sons of Mars, the Roman god of war, Romulus and Remus had been cast into the Tiber River by their great uncle Amulius. Though they were eventually found and brought up by a herdsman, the wolf remains a vital part of their legend.

A black ombré graphic accentuates the light grey, blending from the cuffs of the short and shirt. During night games, this effect serves to accentuate the players’ physical presence underneath the floodlights. Black socks, with dark grey chevrons on the calf, further this powerful framing of the body.

A lightweight crafted crew neck collar caps the kit, whilst the two-tone (light grey and black) color scheme that runs throughout the shirt, shorts and socks is also reflected in the crest – this is rendered in black and grey embroidery.
