The New York Red Bulls have kicked off the post-Thierry Henry era with the unveiling of their 2015 adidas home shirt (available soon at World Soccer Shop and Kitbag ). The new shirt was revealed at the 2015 New York Red Bulls Jersey Launch Party at the legendary Webster Hall in Manhattan.
The 2015 Red Bulls home shirt will most likely see action when star striker Bradley Wright-Phillips and the rest of the team open up their 2015 MLS season this Sunday against Sporting KC at Sporting Park.
The new kit emphasizes RBNY’s 20th season as a member of Major League Soccer and their status as an MLS founding club. The kit features the text ‘Est. 1996’ in an ode to those that have been with the club from the start. Like all of MLS’s other 2015 adidas kits, it has a lenticular crest of the front chest with founding team patch on its reverse side.
The colors of the are in the New York Red Bulls’ traditional white and red with a splash of black. The club says that the red sleeves signify the love, fight, passion and glory of the club; while the black and red neck tape are a sign of the Red Bulls’ history in MLS.
The kit also features a nod to the Metro Area with a unique ‘New York’ type that mimics the iconic New York Skyline.
The new MLS crest in RBNY’s colors appears on both sleeves representing the league’s three-part motto – For club, country and community.
