The France rugby team will debut their first ever red kit during Saturday’s RBS 6 Nations first round fixture against Scotland at the the Stade de France.
The color change is reminiscent of the French national soccer team’s surprising switch from their usual white alternate to a red away shirt for EURO 2008.
The France rugby 2015 adidas away jersey is identical in design to the team’s now popular home kit. It is matched with the same dark blue shorts worn with the home shirt in its launch pictures.
Alternative colors may be in the works given Les Bleus history of donning white shorts with their home and away kits. As with the home kit the France 2015 away uniform release is accompanied by the social media hashtag #allbleus.
World Cup finalists on three occasions (1987, 1999 and 2011), France is currently ranked seventh in the world by the IRB.
