New York City FC 2015 adidas Home Jersey

Published on

New Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise New York City FC today unveiled their home jersey for their inaugural season in 2015. The new shirt was modeled by former Spain and FC Barcelona striker David Villa during its launch event. It will be available at the World Soccer Shop MLS section.

According to the Manchester City and New York Yankees owned club’s website: Produced by adidas, the jersey has a clean, classic look, in iconic City Blue, with white and dark blue detailing, as the Club continues the tradition of soccer in New York City.

The jersey features the Club’s badge, chosen by fans, which is inspired by the old New York City Subway Token, created by the Transit Authority in 1953 and used for 50 years as the standard fare for a ride. The last version of the token had a cut out pentagon in the center representing the five boroughs, similar to what appears on either side of the monogram, to reinforce the Club’s connection to the entire city.

Using adidas’ adizero engineering, featuring the same construction and materials as showcased in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the uniform is the lightest soccer kit in history.

The jersey and shorts combine different technologies allowing players to remain fast, cool and comfortable on the pitch. The contrast color crew neck and white adidas 3-Stripes on the sleeves compliment the white shorts and socks.

The authentic on field jersey features the Club’s Inaugural Season tag, marking 2015 as New York City FC’s first year in MLS. The jersey also features a bespoke New York City FC neck tape and the word City on the socks.
