World Cup quarter-finalists Costa Rica continued an impressive year by defeating Guatemala 2-1 on Saturday night in Los Angeles, CA to claim their eight Copa Centroamericana (Central American Cup) title.
The win sends Los Ticos to the 2015 Copa America. They will also appear in next year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup along with fellow Central American sides Guatemala, Panama and El Salvador.

MLS veteran Carlos Ruiz put Guatemala ahead from the penalty spot in the 25th before Costa Rica responded in the 28th courtesy of a Bryan Ruiz free kick. Juan Bustos scored Costa Rica’s winner in the 56th from distance to secure the win for manager Paulo Wanchope’s team.
