Real Madrid defeated city rivals Atlético Madrid 4-1 on Saturday to win their long sought after tenth UEFA Champions League title (called “La Décima” by the club).
Atlético Madrid took the lead in to 36th minute when Diego Godín capitalized on goalkeeper Iker Casillas’ error to score on a header.
Diego Simeone’s team defended bravely and looked close to claiming their first European championship until Real defender Sergio Ramos equalized for Los Blancos in the ninety third minute.
Atlético looked exhausted throughout extra time as Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo scored three unanswered goals to give manager Carlo Ancelotti his fifth Champions League title (including two as a player).
