Last season’s Campeonato Brasileiro Série A runners-up Grêmio kicked off their 2014 Copa Libertadores campaign with a 1-0 win at Uruguay’s Nacional on Thursday night. While the club that produced Ronaldinho wore their 2013/14 third kit for the match, Grêmio have launched a home kit for the tournament.
The Grêmio 2014 Copa Libertadores Topper home kit will be the first choice shirt of the “Tricolor” for South America’s equivalent of the UEFA Champions League. It is in the club’s famed sky blue, black and white stripes with gold in the neck and sleeve areas. Three stars are embroidered above the club badge in recognition of Gremio’s two Copa Libertadoes and one Intercontinental Cup titles.
The new shirt will make its on the field debut when Gremio hosts Colombian side Atlético Nacional on February 25th.
