The Colombia 2014 FIFA World Cup adidas home kit was officially launched in Bogotá on Thursday night. It is now available at Kitbag, Subside Sports, World Soccer Shop and Tienda Fútbol Mundial.
The new shirt will be worn by star striker Radamel Falcao and the rest of Los Cafeteros in a friendly against Belgium in Brussels on November 14th.
The Colombia 2014 World Cup adidas home jersey is in the team’s traditional yellow base with blue, red and white elements. Its most prominent feature are blue diagonal stipes and a band on the shirt’s front that are intended to represent dynamism and speed. White appears on the color and sleeves while a red band is featured across the back of the kit.
The following symbols that adidas says is of importance to Colombians appear on the jersey:
● Sombrero vueltiao: The rings of the traditional Colombian hat appear on the blue band of the shirt and emanate from the Federación Colombiana de Fútbol badge.
● Cóndor de los Andes: The wings of the Andean condor area printed in red on the back of the Colombia 2013/14 home kit along with the phrase #UNIDOSPORUNPAIS (United for a Country).
● White: The universal symbol of peace.
The new Colombian kit is completed by white shorts and socks featuring white, dark blue, yellow and red.
Players and fans can choose from the traditional shirt with Climacool ventilation zones, or variations of adizero, characterised by a lower weight providing a lighter load for the player. The adizero version weighs only 100 grams, delivering speed without sacrificing ventilation and ideal fit.
The new Colombian match kit is one of the lightest football kits in history, with the shorts and jersey weighting for a combined 250 grams thanks to adidas´adizero engineering. The new technology combines different technologies to offer the lightest football kit, allowing players to remain fast, cool and comfortable on the pitch.
Currently ranked fourth in the world by FIFA, Colombia returned to the World Cup for the first time since 1998. The appearance will be the team’s fifth in football’s world championship.
