In preparation for the upcoming 2013 Rugby Championship in South Africa, Nike introduces a new jersey for the Pumas, Argentina’s national rugby team.
The unveiling took place today at the Buenos Aires Nike Store in Unicenter shopping mall, where the jersey will be exclusively available until Aug. 14. The Pumas will start their quest for the championship Aug. 17 in a match against host team South Africa.
The new Nike jersey highlights the Pumas’ core values, which include love of country, commitment, effort and teamwork. The design highlights the classic Argentine colors of sky blue and white, while keeping the team’s traditional DNA in an innovative way. On the back of the jersey, the iconic sun of the Argentine flag symbolizes the team’s patriotism.
In addition, the jersey features Nike’s latest technical innovation to meet the demands of today’s elite rugby athletes. Nike Dri-FIT technology provides rapid moisture wicking, helping to keep players dry and comfortable. The stretch fit and elasticity of the fabric offers a streamlined fit and freedom of movement.
The animal print design that runs along the sides of the jersey has an adhesive texture, giving players a better grip when carrying the ball against the jersey. The silicone strap on the inside of the jersey hem prevents bunching, keeping players focused on the game. The team badge on the jersey chest is heat-applied, which reduces friction.
