Club Atlético Independiente 2013 PUMA Limited Edition Retro Kit

Published on

Sixteen-time Argentine Primera División and seven-time Copa Libertadores winners Club Atlético Independiente have launched a limited edition 2013 PUMA jersey called the “Camiseta Histórica” (Historical Shirt).

The new CAI kit is based on classic red and white striped shirts worn by the club from 1927 to 1957 when the club won three Primera titles and registered a number of famous wins (including a 6-0 victory over Real Madrid in 1953).

The Independiente 2013 PUMA historical jersey was launched via a web campaign called Movimiento #DIABLOSOY (Movement I AM A DEVIL) in reference to the club’s nickname of Diablo (Devil). The campaign featured former CAI striker and current Argentina international Sergio “El Kun” Agüero.

The new shirt was worn for the first time in Independiente’s 1-2 home loss to Brown de Adrogué on Sunday in the Primera B Nacional. The match was the club’s first in the Argentine second division after 108 years of top flight football.
