The Colorado Rapids kicked of their 2013 Major League Soccer with a 1-0 loss to FC Dallas on Saturday night. During the match the 2010 MLS Cup champions wore their newly launched away jersey. The new shirt was unveiled earlier this week along with the Denver club’s 2013 home shirt. Both are now available at World Soccer Shop and soccer.com.
According to the Rapids’ webite: The Rapids’ alternate jersey comes in the distinctive colors of the iconic Colorado state flag, and includes design elements from the flag imprinted directly into the shirt.
The Colorado “C” is embossed directly into the front of the shirt, while the Rapids logo on the jersey will be bright red and the three stripes on the sleeve are yellow. The full image of the Colorado state flag will also be included in the lower left front corner of the jersey, and all trim will come in the red and yellow of the flag.
The Rapids will also have a new primary jersey in 2013, which comes in the club’s distinctive burgundy color. Darker stripes on that jersey are made up of the names of the club’s season ticket holders, making Colorado the first MLS club to include fans’ in the actual fabric of their jerseys, as part of the #ONELUB campaign.
The new primary shirts also include white sleeves, the number “5280” printed onto the back of the neck, as well as a Colorado flag placed on the lower left corner of the front of the jersey.
