VfL Wolfsburg (full name: Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg-Fußball GmbH) is a German professional soccer club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. The club won its first and only league title in the 2008/09 season finished one spot above the relegation zone last season.

A win at home against Werder Bremen on Saturday could see Die Wölfe (The Wolves) finish as high as seventh for the 2011/12 season. During the match the VfL Wolfsburg 2012/13 adidas home kit will be worn in match action for the first time. Here are further details on the new kit from Wolfburg’s website:

A year and a half long success story came to a wonderful conclusion on Thursday. Two days prior to the final game of the current Bundesliga season, VfL Wolfsburg, along with outfitter adidas, presented the club’s new home jersey for the coming season.

The jersey, which the VfL fans themselves had the opportunity to design, is in light green with a wolf silhouette in the lower half of the shirt’s front — just as it was designed by competition winner Fabian Thamm.

“Holding a new football jersey in your hands is always a special moment,” said VfL manager and head-coach Felix Magath: “I think we can look forward to the coming season here in Wolfsburg anyway, but even more so with this jersey. The fact that the fans worked on the jersey themselves makes for an even closer bond between them and the team.”
