Lionel Messi became the first player to score five goals in a UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday as he led FC Barcelona to a 7-1 rout (10-2 on aggregate) of Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16 of the tournament.

The FIFA Player of the Year for the last three years scored in the 25th, 42nd, 49th, 58th and 84th minutes for the reigning UEFA Champions League and Spanish La Liga champions. Substitute Tello scored twice for Barca in his first European match while Karim Bellarabi notched a consolation goal for the vanquished German side in the 91st.
