Coritiba Foot Ball Club, commonly known as Coritiba, is a Brazilian soccer team from Curitiba, Paraná. Coritiba currently campaigns in the top-tier of Brazilian football — the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A — following its promotion from Série B at the end of the 2010 season. The club’s sole Série A league title came in 1985.
The Coritiba Nike 2012 home kit was launched last Thursday night at Rio de Janeiro’s Jockey club along with the Brazil 2012/13 home and away kits. The club joins Nike’s stable of Brazilian teams after wearing Lotto gear in recent years. The new kit was worn for the first time during Coritibas’s 4-1 Campeonato Paranaense (Paraná State Championship) win over Arapongas on Saturday.
Coritiba currently holds the world record for the most consecutive victories by a soccer team. The Guinness World Records entry for the achievement (as celebrated in the club’s 2011 third jersey) reads:
The most consecutive association football victories across all competitions was 24 by Coritiba Foot Ball Club (Brazil) from Curitiba, Brazil, between 3 February and 5 May 2011. The team outscored opponents 74-16 in winning 17 matches in the Parana State Championship and seven matches in the national cup competition.
