England defeated neighbors Scotland 16-12 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday.
Two penalties and a drop-goal from Jonny Wilkinson along with a late try from Chris Ashton gave England the win and first place in Pool B of the tournament.
The Scots must now hope for unfancied Georgia to beat Argentina by at least eight points in Sunday’s final match of the Pool in order to gain passage into the final eight.
