Defending world champions South Africa slipped by Wales by a score of 17-16 in both teams opening matches of the Rugby World Cup on Sunnday.

Seeking their first win over the Springboks in 12 years, Wales held on to a 16-10 lead until the 65th minute when Francois Hougaard’s try and Morne Steyn’s subsequent conversion gave South Africa the victory.
