Manchester United routed a makeshift New York Cosmos 6-0 on Friday at Old Trafford in veteran United and England midfielder Paul Scholes’ testimonial match.
With Sunday’s FA Community Shield against local rivals Manchester City looming, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was liberal with his lineup and substitutions with most regulars playing no more than 62 minutes.

The match was the first for the current incarnation of the New York Cosmos. The 1971-1984 team once featured the likes of Pelé , Carlos Alberto and Franz Beckenbauer.
