Former Mexican women’s soccer team defender and captain Mónica González has been providing expert analysis for ESPN during the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Here is a previously published piece featuring the now 33 year old Corpus Christi, TX native. It features the 5′ 10″ tall Mónica donning a Mexico away jersey in a photo shoot from 2009.
González played for the Boston Breakers of the now defunct WUSA during the 2002/03 season. She participated in the 2008 WPS Combine but was not picked up by any team in the league and is apparently now retired from playing professionally.
