Argentina Copa America 2011 Squad

The Copa America 2011 squad for tournaments hosts and favorites Argentina was named by manager Sergio Batista on Saturday.

The 23-man roster includes reigning FIFA World Player of the Year Lionel Messi along with a host of European-based stars that includes Carlos Tevez, Gonzalo Higuain and Javier Mascherano. Diego Valeri, Enzo Perez and Luciano Monzon were cut from Batista’s provisional squad.

Argentina opens up its Copa America 2011 campaign against Bolivia in La Plata on July 1st. El Albiceleste’s group also includes Colombia and invitees Costa Rica.

Goalkeepers: Juan Pablo Carrizo (River Plate), Mariano Andujar (Catania), Sergio Romero (AZ Alkmaar).

Defenders: Ezequiel Garay (Real Madrid), Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City), Nicolas Burdisso (Roma), Gabriel Milito (Barcelona), Javier Zanetti (Inter Milan), Nicolas Pareja (Spartak Moscow), Marcos Rojo (Spartak Moscow).

Midfielders: Esteban Cambiasso (Inter Milan), Javier Mascherano (Barcelona), Lucas Biglia (Anderlecht), Javier Pastore (Palermo), Ever Banega (Valencia), Fernando Gago (Real Madrid).

Forwards: Sergio Aguero (Atletico de Madrid), Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid), Gonzalo Higuain (Real Madrid), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Carlos Tevez (Manchester City), Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli), Diego Milito (Inter Milan)
