Flamengo is one of the most popular clubs in Brazil with an estimated 35 million supporters and placed 9th in the FIFA Clubs of the 20th Century ranking. Led by sometimes Brazil international Adriano, Flamengo claimed its sixth Campeonato Brasileiro Série A championship in 2009 but could only manage a 14th place league finish in the 2010 season.
On Tuesday, the Flamengo Olympikus 2011 home and away kits were presented to the public. In recognition of the 30th anniversary of Flamengo’s sole Intercontinental Cup win, both kits are patterned after those worn by the team during the 1981 season. Adilio and Julio Cesa from the 1981 Flamengo team were present to launch the new kits along with current players Philip, Léo Moura and Renato and a couple of Brazilian soccer babes.
