Video: Ecuador 2 – Mexico 1 (International Friendly Highlights)

Birmingham City striker Christian “Chucho” Benitez opened the scoring with a fine solo effort after 40 seconds in Ecuador’s shock 2-1 win over Mexico in a friendly Saturday in Guadalajara last night.

Mexico drew level via an own-goal by Luis Checa in the 40th before Jaime Ayovi gave Ecuador their first win in Mexico in 14 years in the 58th minute.

With a break in the major European leagues on until next weekend because of UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying, both teams featured a host of European players. Along with Benitez, Manchester United midfielder Antonio Valencia featured for Ecuador while teammate Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, Tottenham’s Giovanni Dos Santos, Arsenal’s Carlos Vela and Fulham’s Carlos Salcido were on the field for Mexico.
