Orlando Pirates 2010/11 adidas Home and Away Kits

Published on

Orlando Pirates are a South African football (soccer) club based in Parktown, Johannesburg that plays in the Premier Soccer League. It was founded in 1937 in the Orlando section of Soweto.

The Pirates are one of the most successful South African teams. Last season, they finished 5th place in the ABSA Premiership.

Late last week, Orlando Pirates and kit provider adidas launched the newly designed Orlando Pirates home and away jerseys for the 2010/11 season. According to the Pirates’ website:

For the home jersey -we took inspiration from previous Orlando Pirates jerseys —particularly the very first jersey donned by the club in 1937 —which featured a white collar. More importantly, we had a lot of close interaction with the club to make sure that we produced a world class product for a world class club,” says Kevin Jooste. However, adidas and the club also wanted to do something bold and unexpected and the two parties used the away jersey to achieve this.

This away jersey will have a strong appeal to those who want something beyond the traditional —incorporating red stripes on white

The Orlando Pirates adidas 2010/11 black home kit was worn for the first time yesterday during the club’s loss to Kaizer Chiefs in the Telkom Charity Cup at Soccer City.
