Unfancied Wigan came from two goals down to beat Arsenal 3-2 at the DW Stadium yesterday. The loss for the Gunners all but ended their 2009/10 English Premier League title hopes.
A fine solo effort from England World Cup hopeful Theo Walcott and a Mikael Silvestre header had appeared to secure three points for Arsenal until Ben Watson got one back for the hosts in the 80th minute.
A blunder by Arsenal stand-in goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski allowed Titus Bramble to easily head in a tying goal in the last-minute of the game. Charles N’Zogbia then curled in a long distance winner in stoppage time to leave Arsene Wenger’s men six points behind leaders Chelsea with just three games to go.
