Manchester United went ahead 1-0 when Wayne Rooney set up Darron Gibson after just three minutes. Nani’s sublime flick made it 2-0 in the 7th before he added what was seemingly an insurance goal in the 41st.

However, Bayern stormed back on goals from Olic in the 43rd and Robben in the 74th to make the series aggregate score 4-4.

Manchester United were reduced to 10 men in the 50th when surprise starter Rafael received his second yellow card of the match for a foul on Franck Ribery.

Bayern will now face Olympique Lyon in semi-finals of the tournament.
