[digg=http://digg.com/soccer/Germany_adidas_World_Cup_2010_Away_Kit_Jersey_Trikot]The Germany adidas World Cup 2010 away kit has been officially launched by the DFB. Below are a series of pictures of the new kit including one featuring team captain Michael Ballack.
The inspiration for the predominantly black jersey is the December, 12th 1898 7-0 German victory in Paris against the “White Selection Rovers Club” (featuring nine British players) 7:0. During the match, the very first German national side wore black.
The 2010 Germany adidas away kit also features eleven gold stripes symbolizing team spirit and a golden lettering with “Deutscher Fußball-Bund” (“German Football Association” in English) on its back neckline.
The new German shirt’s badge features three golden stars above it in recognition of Germany’s 1954, 1974 and 1990 FIFA World Cup triumphs.
The Germany adidas 2010 away kit is expected to see its first action when Die Mannschaft meet Argentina in a pre-World Cup friendly on March 3rd. It is expected to be used in Germany’s FIFA World Cup 2010 group game against Ghana on June 23 because the Germans are the “guest team” for the match. Ghana’s primary strip is white.
