<\/a><\/p>\nWorn for the first time ever during Sunday’s Campeonato Carioca (Rio de Janeiro State Championship) clash with Botafogo, the kit returns to the a classic\u00a0checkerboard style with two quadrants in black and two in red \u2013 a reference to the club’s first jersey, known as the “Papagaio Vint\u00e9m”. The jersey also includes a blue stripe, in reference to the Rio de Janeiro state flag, as well as a “Rio de Janeiro \u2013 450 years” seal.<\/p>\n
“Flamengo is an icon of the paradise that is Rio de Janeiro. Nothing could be more fitting, on a date as important as the city’s 450th anniversary, than this tribute to Flamengo’s fans,” says Luiz Gaspar, director of the soccer club category for adidas Brazil.<\/p>\n The new jersey is the third tribute from adidas and Flamengo to the city of Rio de Janeiro. The Flamengo 2014 third jersey \u00a0included images inspired by locations such as P\u00e3o de A\u00e7\u00facar and Corcovado.<\/p>\n “Flamengo is an inseparable part of the best moments in Rio de Janeiro’s 450 years. Brazil is our home, but Rio is Flamengo’s birthplace. Reissuing the classic Papagaio Vint\u00e9m is a fitting tribute by Flamengo and adidas to this city’s history”, states Eduardo Bandeira de Melo, president of the club.<\/p>\n Subside Sports<\/a>, World Soccer Shop <\/a><\/strong>and UK Soccer Shop<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>are expected to carry the Flamengo 2015 adidas third kit in the near future.<\/p>\n\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
