The Italian sportswear brand first unveiled the Kombat at the UEFA EURO 2000 in Belgium and the Netherlands, where the Italian National Team wore the revolutionary tight-fitting design that introduced “stop stopping” technology to professional football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The original Kombat shirt featured hyper-elastic fabric that provided athletes with approximately 30 centimeters of additional freedom of movement while making holding fouls more apparent to officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This technical advancement established a new standard for football kit design that persists across the sport today. What began as an innovative approach to athletic performance has evolved into the industry norm, with form-fitting, elastic shirts now standard equipment for professional players worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kappa initiated its 25th anniversary celebration in March with “Keep on Kombat,” a retrospective exhibition at the brand’s Milan headquarters. The commemorative project continues with the release of the Kombat XXV shirt, constructed from 92% recycled polyester and 8% elastane. The updated design maintains the original’s performance-focused DNA while incorporating contemporary materials and construction methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
