Defending Campeonato Brasileiro S\u00e9rie A champions Clube de Regatas do Flamengo have unveiled a special edition \u2018Excel\u00eancia Negra\u2019 (Black Excellence) kit in conjunction with adidas Brasil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shirt is inspired by the \u201cBlack Excellence\u201d manifesto created by Marcelo Carvalho (one of the leaders of the Observat\u00f3rio Racial project). It honors the achievements of Black men and black women in Brazilian football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new shirt is predominantly black with details from the Excel\u00eancia Negra manifesto included within its numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Flamengo says that phrases from the manifest such as \u201co negro no futebol brasileiro \u00e9 a marca do Brasil\u201d (the Black man in Brazilian football is the brand of Brazil) and \u201cjogadores negros ganharam o mundo \u201d (Black players won the world) amongst others tell of the achievements, the perseverance and courage of those who never let themselves be silenced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A golden Afro hairstyle with the phrase \u201c\u00c9 a Coroa\u201d stamped throughout it is placed at the center chest. The phrase is inspired by the iconic saying of Babu Santana, a Flamengo fan and leader in Brazilian racial justice activism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
